St. John's in the SPC
Becoming a member of a St. John's Athletic team is a privilege. St. John’s athletes and coaches embody the St. John’s approach of "Not Without Honor.” Players and coaches are held to the highest standards of sportsmanship by honoring the sport, opponents, and officials.
Players, coaches, and fans are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that is representative of the values of the School, conference, and community. The concept of team extends beyond the athletic arena and develops determination, an understanding of fair play, and integrity in every aspect of a student’s life.
Upper School Varsity athletic teams compete in the Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC). Founded in 1952 as the Association of Texas Private Schools (ATPS), the SPC is comprised of 19 accredited, independent schools. Its purpose is to encourage student enjoyment, physical fitness, instruction in skills and character, and for the mutual benefits derived from keen competition and true sportsmanship within an educational framework. St. John’s is one of three coeducational schools to participate in all 23 SPC sports.
