The Bailey Double

Connor Bailey ’19 had two hits including a double and 2 RBI’s to lead the Mavericks in a 4-0 win over the Power on Senior Night at Randall Field.  The scoreboard lit up on Bailey’s offense, but the scorebook told the whole story.   Bailey caught the first pitch and pitched the last one while playing all other seven positions in between.

After starting at catcher, Connor moved to third base in the second inning followed by a stint at shortstop in the third.  In the fourth, he played all outfield spots, and the fifth inning he landed at second base.  In the sixth inning Connor clocked in at first base and finally in the seventh, he was the pitcher.

“This was one of the most fun times I’ve had playing baseball,” said Bailey.  “I was nervous. The last time I pitched was in middle school.”

Bailey registered putouts at four of his stops along the way, culminating with a four-pitch performance in the last out of the game on the mound.
