Boys' Track & Field Win 53rd Maverick Relays

St. John's Boys' Track & Field finished first and the Girls' placed fourth at the 53rd Maverick Relays.  The Boys trailed St. Thomas High School up until the last race of the meet and won the 4 x 400 relay to finish first overall.
The Girls' team finished the meet strong by winning the 4 x 400 relay giving them 57.5 points for fourth place.  The Boys trailed St. Thomas by six points going into the 4 x 400 relay, the final race of the meet.  Colton Morgan '20, Josh Schwartz '21, Davis Thames '20, and Douglas Parsley '20 posted a time of 3:31.60, for first place in the relay while putting the team at the top of the podium for good with 107 points.  

"We just went all out," said Parsley '20, who anchored the relay.  "We gave it everything we had to win the meet." 

Parsley, Thames, Kyle Puckett '20, and Pierce Ederle '21 also shattered the 4 x 800 relay meet record with a time of 8:02.59.

"The Girls had a solid meet winning the last relay," said Head Coach Richie Mercado '79.  "The Boys 4 x 800 relay record was a big highlight, along with winning the 4 x 400 relay.  It was a good all-around meet."
