Basketball and Soccer

The Conference is moving forward with plans to play scheduled Conference zone games in basketball and soccer.  We will take the necessary safety precautions in these sports. Each school will communicate the required safety protocols to their school community prior to the beginning of the Conference basketball and soccer competitions that begin in early January.   Each SPC school is utilizing different medical advice and advisors to determine their health-related policies.  Therefore, individual schools may have different protocols for their home games.  SPC schools will give updates on specific protocols for specific games throughout the season in order to keep their school communities informed regarding information related to fan attendance, mask requirements, and other health-related protocols for each game.     All SPC member schools have committed to making every effort possible to broadcast or live stream all varsity contests in basketball and soccer.  Information and links to games will be shared with both teams in order to help as many fans as possible to enjoy SPC competition.   Because of the realities we face in this pandemic, it is possible there will be a cancellation of some games.  The Conference plans to make every practical effort to play as many games as possible in basketball and soccer.  However, because of the complexities generated by the potential missed games, Conference and Zone Championships will not be awarded. The SPC will not host the Winter Tournament in Houston as originally scheduled in February.

Swimming and Diving

The Conference is moving forward to try to secure facilities to host culminating SPC swim meets, one in the north zone and one in the south zone.   Our previously arranged facility is no longer available to host the Winter SPC swim meet.  We will attempt to secure facilities for north and south zone meets.  We are also looking at a schedule for our swim meets that spread the events over a longer time period in order to minimize the number of athletes in the facilities at any one time.    At this point, all Conference schools are allowed to schedule dual meets based on the participating school’s determination regarding the safety of these meets.

Wrestling

The Conference will continue to work toward possible scheduling of an SPC wrestling meet prior to the State and National Prep Tournaments for the nine SPC schools that participate in this sport.  At this point, all Conference schools are allowed to schedule dual meets based on the participating school’s determination regarding the safety of these meets.
