Girls Varsity Tennis Continues to Roll

It was another successful, yet hectic, week for the Girls’ Varsity Tennis Team playing two matches and one tournament before Spring Break.  Coach Zeze recently completed his roster for the 2021 girls’ varsity team with the addition of a total five new girls.  The mix of experienced veterans and a strong bevy of newcomers has the team looking to achieve great things this season.  Congratulations to the newest members of the 2021 Mavericks Girls’ Varsity Tennis Team, Isabella Diaz-Mira, Nadia Khera, Kate Lu, Mia Hong, and Emma Chang.

First up, the Team easily cruised to a 7-1 victory by defeating Stratford High School, a public high school with a steeped history of tennis tradition. The Team then easily rolled to a 12-2 win over Dobie High School, another public school with a strong tennis program.

The Team next participated in the Lone Star Tournament, a regional tournament which pit the Team against some of the largest and best 6-A tennis schools in the greater Houston area.  The tournament would serve as a good test for Coach Zeze and the Team, and the Team certainly did not disappoint.  Victoria Zhao was unbeatable and took home the 1st place medal in the main Draw A Singles Division.  The formidable doubles team of Hannah Chang (captain) and Ava Phan handily won the main Draw A Doubles Division, also finishing in 1st place.  Dalia Khera and Kate Lu took home some nice hardware winning the consolation draw of the Draw A Doubles Division.
