Sweet 16: Wrestling Grabs 16th title with Prep State Crown

St. John's Varsity Wrestling, fresh off their 8th SPC title won last weekend in Fort Worth, didn’t have to travel as far to grab the program's 16th overall title at the Texas Prep State Championships held at St. Thomas High School in Houston on Saturday. The Maverick mat men landed a program-high eight wrestlers in the finals, crowning three state champions and qualifying a dozen for the Prep Nationals in Maryland next weekend. St. John’s scored a total of 240 points. EHS was runners-up with 146 points. A total of 21 schools were in attendance. St. John’s has won four consecutive Texas State Prep titles and five in total.
