Mavs Defeat Dolphins

The 7th Grade Girls Soccer team hosted Annunciation Orthodox School on Skip Lee Field on a breezy afternoon.  The Mavs had the wind at their back in the first half, and in the 12th minute, Kaitlyn stole the ball form her opponent about 30 yards from the AOS goal.  She dribbled through three opponents and scored with poise to put the Mavs up 1-0.  Twelve minutes later, after some pinball action in the AOS penalty area and with assists from Mia & Kaitlyn, Blair scored to make the score 2-0 at halftime.  AOS had the wind at their back in the second half, and they put more pressure on the ball in the St. John's half.  However, the Mavs defenders and mid-fielders did such a fine job that as goalie, Lorna only made one play on the ball throughout the second half; and the second half ended with the score still at 2-0.  .Congratulations to the Dolphins and the Mavericks for their 50 minutes of sustained effort, energy and sportsmanship, and thanks to our parents for their spectacular support!
