Maverick Stampede: Spring Season Highlights

Sam Chambers
St. John's Mavericks aimed for the fences, the T, flagsticks, the five-hole, finish lines, and more targets this spring season. Baseball won the SPC Championship for the first time since 1991. Girls Golf carded a seventh consecutive SPC championship. Girls and Boys Lacrosse finished runners-up at SPC. Girls and Boys Tennis combined to win their first coed TTCA State Championship, and both teams finished third at SPC. Girls Track & Field and Boys Golf also finished third and Softball finished 4th. The Girls won the SPC Directors Cup and the Boys finished a close second. Congratulations to all the Maverick teams and new Athletic Director David Cohn for all their efforts. Beyond the cloisters, the class of 2024 will send a record number of 32 alumni to compete in the NCAA's starting this fall. The veteran NCAA Mavs raised the bar for them to follow by setting new records, putting up conference banners, and holding up national championship hardware in the spring season alone.
