Mavericks Open Season with Strong Performance

The boys kicked off the season on Thursday against Emery/Weiner School at the Lee LeClear Tennis Center. The Mavericks opened strong, earning a convincing 6–0 victory.
On Friday, we competed in the E.H.S. Tournament at The Met, and for the third year in a row, the Mavericks boys proved too strong for the competition.
Playing at No. 1 singles, Khaleel Abaroa faced two competitive matches, highlighted by a tough final against Episcopal High School’s William Fitts. Khaleel delivered an excellent performance, winning 8–5 in a high-quality match.
At Line 1 doubles, Shiv Khera and Teo Nelson captured the tournament title with an impressive 8–2 victory over Awty International School in the final. Their combination of strong serving and outstanding volleys at the net proved too much for their opponents.
Shayan Khan and Ryan Vo also played exceptionally well together. Using effective kick serves and setting each other up confidently at the net, they defeated Kinkaid School 8–3 in the final.
Well done, boys — a fantastic start to the season!
