The Mavericks suffered a tough home loss yesterday to the crosstown rival Episcopal Knights yesterday at home.  The team gave up 3 runs in the second inning and one in the fifth in the loss.  The Mavericks had three hits on the day, two by Regan Rau, and one by VA Waldrop.
Defensively the Mavericks turned two double plays on the day.  Third baseman Lizzy Padhi threw out a runner at home on a bases loaded play and Regan threw out the batter at first.  On the second one, Regan caught a pop-up bunt and doubled off the runner at first on a throw to VA Waldrop.
The Mavericks have to step up on a more consistent basis both offensively and in the field if they have any hope of defeating the Knights next week in SPC counter play.
