Mavericks Work Together for a Win

It is all coming together little by little, by little, by little... Monday's game against the Presbyterian Panthers turned out to be a great win for us. We came out confident and competitive the first game. Kate Bres (S) had a few good serves to start the game and ended with a total of three aces, as did Briana Williams (MB) and Jane Labanowski (MB).
Instead of the pass, set, spike combo we practice everyday, we were content with pass, set, pass. We had great sets by both of our setters, but could not quite finish with a "kill". During a timeout, I spoke to the girls about executing a spike and Briana had her first kill two plays later. Jane followed and they ended with a total of 4 kills in the first game. Other contributing players in the first game were Bianca Rombado (OH), Courtnay Buaas (OH), Allie Robinson (OH) and Meredith Lawrence (S).
The girls played the second game as if playing from behind the entire time. They hustled and executed nice passing and serving. Caroline Cowan (S), Allie Robinson and Meredith Lawrence (S) had a combined total of 11 aces. While on defense, we were a little confused with our positioning. We had some miscommunication on the court, but with the last timeout called by Presbyterian we took full advantage of resituating ourselves on the court to gain another Win. Other contributing members of the team were Jordan Wilson(LSH), Katie Owens (MB), Carly Rapp (LSH), and Gaby Appeddu (LSH).
The final scores were 25-13, and 25-19.
Thanks for all of your support. Our next game is Wednesday, Sept. 10th at St. Michael's. Hope to see you there.
