Mavs Clinch #2 Seed in Division 1 Tourney with Victory

The Mavs battled a tough St. Mary's Hall squad, pulling out a 55-51 victory, for a second straight road win. In the process, the Mavs clinched the #2 seed in the upcoming Division 1 tourney. The Mavs took a 7 point lead into halftime. Early in the 3rd, the Mavs took a 10 point lead, only to see the Barons fight back to cut the lead to 2, but the Maverick hoopsters took an eight point lead into the 4th quarter. ***NEWS FLASH***... ANGUS MITCHELL THREW DOWN A THUNDEROUS DUNK IN THE 2ND QUARTER, BRINGING HIS DUNK TOTAL TO 2 THIS SEASON. ANGUS WAS THE FIRST PERSON IN 15 YEARS TO DUNK, WHILE PLAYING FOR SJS. The Barons closed the score to 1 point with three minutes to go, Patrick Wilkey hit a huge 3 pointer on the Mavs next possession to push the lead back up to 4. The Mavs did a great job down the stretch, finishing off the Barons for another road victory. The Mavs were led in scoring by Angus Mitchell with 16 points and 10 rebounds, William Young added 15 points and 9 assists. Patrick Wilkey dropped in 9 points, Ethan Harry added 6 points. Josh Winslow had 4 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals. Hudson Duncan hit a huge 3 pointer late in the 3rd quarter, after the Barons had cut the lead to one.
