Zach Gaitz (1/2) had the Mavs on the board quickly with an assist from Jett Williams 42 seconds into the game. Reed Daniel won the first face off (9) and Will Wallace got the gb(3) to give the Mavericks the first possession and score on a windy night at Scotty Caven Field. Kyle Sparks (2/1) found Patrick Wilkey (5/0) to make it 2-0 minutes later and the Mavs were breezing towards an easy win.
Neighborhood foe, Lamar, was not going to break in the "friendly" contest. The Redskin attack unit of Golden, Lillie, and Nugent and midfielder, Marchione put in 4 unanswered goals to take a 4-2 first quarter lead.
Senior Captain, Wilkey, stepped up his leadership on the field and answered back with assists from William Young (2/4) to tie it up at the half.
The third period started like the game with Gaitz involved with the scoring. #22 found Sparks and Wilkey for scores to give the Mavs a lead for good. William Payne also scored from Sparks while the Redskins hung around with goals from Golden and Marchione.
The fourth quarter was all Mavericks, and W's. William Young to Wilkey, William Young, Waller save, William Young to Daniel, Waller save, William Young, Waller save, and finally Sparks from Carruth. Waller ended the game with 9 saves on the night and Reed Daniel finished with 9 gb's.
