MAVS RISE UP ON WOODLANDS IN THSLL COUNTER
At 10:21 in the first quarter Zach Gaitz found William Young for an early lead they would never give up against the Woodlands with the full moon rising over Scotty Caven Field. William Payne assisted Patrick Wilkey to make it 2-0 then The Wooldlands answered with a goal from Roger late in the quarter. Wilkey and Young combined for another goal and it was 5-1 Mavs with Jordan Schuler and Wilkey scoring again.
The Woodlands stormed back on goals from Roach and Lewis to make it 5-3 Mavs at the half.
Caldwell Flores opened up the lead to three goals on an unassisted score midway through the third and Roger scored the lone second half goal for the Woodlands to make it 6-4. William Young picked up a rebound to make it 7-4 Mavericks and Zach Gaitz got his third assist on the night to William Payne to make it 8-4 Mavericks in a THSLL South District counter.
Henry Waller had 13 saves on the night and the ground ball contest was split between Young, Reed Daniel, Gaitz, Flores, John Ytterberg, and Ryan Cordill at 4 gb's each.
St. John's sets their sites on Orlando Florida for four games against out of state competition from the Atlantic coast.
