WU WINDS UP WITH GAME WINNER IN BATTLE OF THE SJ'S

In the battle of the SJ's St. John's toppled Strake Jesuit in a South District THSLL counter.  In between sheets of rain on the Alchediak SJ Field turf, St. John's went out to a 2-0 lead at the end of the first quarter on goals by Patrick Wilkey assisted by William Young and Zach Gaitz.  The Crusaders answered back in the second with scores from Joey Wippold, Ed Lee and Matt D'Herbes to go up 4-3.
Young and Wilkey combined on two of the next three goals for the Mavericks to take the lead for good at 5-4. 
The Mavericks started out strong in the third quarter with goals from William Payne assited by Young and an unassisted goal from defenseman Jeff Wu.  Wu's goal turned out to be the game winner coming off a fast break.  Reed Daniel made it 8 -4 Mavs at the end of the third quarter from a Gaitz assist.
Strake made a run in the fourth, but the Mavericks scored last with Young finding the open net.
Henry Waller had 12 saves for St. John's and defenseman, John Ytterberg, picked up 8 gb's.  St. John's had thirty shots on the night.
