The Mavericks made a very solid showing in our first meet against other teams. It was a practice meet, so we didn’t score the teams or place the runners--officially. But we did get times (and some unofficial places).
We got good times!
The boys started first with the girls starting 4 minutes after them. Our top 5 boys made a very strong showing, finishing within one minute of one another. That translates to scoring well at meets! Xavier Gonzalez was our first finisher (and second overall) with an excellent time of 9:19. Luke Kramer was our second (and 4th overall) with another strong time of 9:38, Jake Peacock was next, with no one between he and Luke, with a time of 9:51. Then Max Melcher, again with no one else between he and Jake, with a time of 9:55. Ben Bieser was the next Maverick coming in behind just one (I think) AOS runner with a time of 10:07. If I’m correct in how these 5 boys finished overall, that gives our team a score of 25. An excellent would-be score!
Also promising were the results of Frank Spence (10:23), Daniel Bland (10:29), Santi Henning (10:39), Alex Cherches (10:49), and Matthew Davis (10:51). Judging by these results, we can expect any of these boys to factor into the scoring in future meets.
Juan Philippe clocked in at 11:02. Reese Wallace 10:51. Joseph Caplan 11:33. William Clutterbuck 12:09. Evan Friedman 12:33. Jonathan Chen 12:48. Shezhad Charania 13:14. Parker Donaldson 15:09. And Noah Flowers 15:16.
This is a solid team with lots of very promising depth! Keep up the great work!
The smaller size of the girls’ team means that everyone’s performance matters and each girl will have to work hard consistently for us to take advantage of all the talent on this young team. Team work will pay off! Keep your eyes on these girls!
Great job everyone! Your coaches are very proud of you!
