Jackie Modesett pulled off an upset to win the girls High Jump in a jump off, Tim Otey came from 4th to first on his last jump with a 22'0.25 to win the event, Bowden Kelly tied his PR but lost out to a great jump from a FWCD competitor, Tope Emiola threw well in the Discus Throw to place second, the boys team of Derek Fossi, Varun Sablok, Ben Marek, and Henry Chapman ran strong to place 5th in the 4x800 Relay, and the girls team of Jacqueline Dickey, Nicole Gras, Anne Johnson, and Meredith Gamble won the 4 x 800 Relay in an impressive performance.  The Mavericks have many qualifiers in the sprint and relays events for tomorrow, despite the winds that blew steadily to 30mph and gusted to 40mph throughout the entire day! 

After Day 1, the boys are in 4th place with 27 points nad the girls stand 2nd with 38.5 points.
