Xavier Gonzales, Derek Fossi, and Ryan Eisenman led the Mavericks to a strong performance at the 29th Ramble, but not strong enough to secure first place outright!  Lutheran South had a good pack that finished well, and at the end of the race, St. John's and Lutheran South were tied with 59 points each.  The simple essence of cross country dictates that your top 5 finish places determine your team score, and in case of a tie, the team with the better 6th runner wins!  Philip Taffet finshed 6th for the Mavericks, three spots ahead of the Lutheran South 6th runner to break the tie and give us the team championship! 

The top 5 for the Mavericks included Gonzalez, Fossi, Eisenman, Mitch Torczon, and Sykes Yeates.  In addition to the Varsity crown, the JV Mavericks won their division with a great team race, led by individual JV Champion Daniel Bland  in a PR time of 19:16, and Gustavo Anaya and Jackson Jihn, who were also in the top 10.  On top of that, the Middle School Mavericks won the meet easily, led by individual champion Joe Faraguna and 6th place overall finisher Luke Kramer.  A great SJS Sweep for the Boys!!!

Great job by all, and many thanks to the many parents and coaches from SJS who helped organize and run the 29th Ramble.  The new course is exciting and very viewer friendly, and as usual, the meet received rave reviews by parents and coaches from other schools - a tribute to all that you do to help pull it off!
