The Girls are tied for first place with Hockaday after Day 1 of the SPC Championships.  Tope Emiola and Briana Williams threw season bests to finish 3 and 4 in the Discus Throw.  Tope moved from 8th place to 3rd place on her last throw!  Meryl Gibbs jumped a big PR of 34'0" in the Triple Jump to finish 5th place.  Carson Peacock and Molly Vitek ran great races on the windy track to place 5th and 8th in the 3200 meters to start off the day.  The first day was capped by the 4x800 Relay team of Kristen Santiago, Elise Vigeut, Daphne Desjardins, and Nicole Gras running a gutsy comeback race to beat Kindaid and finish first.

On the boys' side, Tim Otey had some sensational jumps but struggled all day to hit the board cleanly.  Despite three long fouls that teased mid to high 23 feet, tim ended up third overall with a jump of 22'1 on his last attempt.  Patrick Flam tied hi PR to clear 11'0" and tie for 8th place in the Pole Vault.  Ryan Reza, Mitch Torczon, and Philip Taffet all ran great PRs in the 3200 in extremely windy conditions.

Full Day 1 Results can be found HERE, and qualifiers for finals are indicated.  The girls 4x100 qualified third overall, Jackie Modesett qualified first in both hurdles, and Sam Night ran a PR to qualify 5th for 100 meter finals.  Sam Jamison qualified 7th in the 110 Hurdles and second in the 300 Hurdles.
