SJS Swimmers compete in dual meet with Lamar HS Varsity and others

SJS Swimmers participated in an interesting multi-dual meet format where swimmers times are split out and scored as if all events were dual meets.  Included in this event was the first ever (in recent memory that is) dual meet with Lamar’s Varsity swim team.   That’s right – Lamar Varsity Swimmers. Lamar Varsity Coach Mac had 2 meets scheduled and decided SJS would be the better competition for his team so he sent his JV team to participate in the other meet.  As might have been anticipated the SJS Women’s team fell 79-23 and the Men lost 79-15.  However, the SJS swimmers won every other dual meet vs. Episcopal, Pope John 23, and Second Baptist.

Coach Raper noted “you won’t swim faster swimming against slower swimmers”.

Already qualifying for the SPC Championship Meet are Jennifer Allen, Rebecca Chen, Sarah Cordill, Libby Manela, Mary Payne, Paige Raun, Bianca Rombado, Elena Skaribas, Emory Strawn and Elise Viguet for the Women and Austin Allday, Jimmy Bernazzani, Daniel Bland, Jeffrey Fastow and Mitchell Schwartz for the Men.  Next meet is Saturday December 3^rd at the New Caney Invitational.
