JV B-Lax Delivers Big Result in 12-7 Win Over Strake Jesuit
On yet another perfect day for lacrosse on beautiful Caven Field, our Mavs jumped out to an early five-goal lead in the first quarter with precise feeding and shooting on the Crusader crease. in an impressive run of their own, the Crusaders reversed the tables in the second quarter and erased our advantage by knotting the game at 6 at half time. Our boys rallied themselves in admirable fashion as they regained the momentum early in the 3rd quarter and outscored Strake 6-1 over the course of the second half to notch a gutsy 12-7 win. Henry Morris made five of his seven saves on the day in the second stanza, while defensemen Hunter Kowalski and Philip Kensinger wreaked havoc on the Crusader offense during the last two frames as well. Our offense really clicked today, as Lake Leppert had a hat trick and two assists, groundball leader Hayden Simmons had a huge game with 4 buckets, Byrne Ledbetter fed three assists and got one goal, Michael Cowan chipped in two helpers and one bucket, Alden Arnold scored twice, and Arden Onanian got one goal to go with his 5 crucial gb's on the day. What a great day of lacrosse, Mavericks! Your rally in the second half proved your moxie and confidence in each other -- congrats on a great TEAM win! Big week next week as we take on the Knights of Episcopal on Wednesday and the Memorial Mustangs on Thursday. Both games are on Caven Field at 5:00, so catch us if you can!
