Mavericks defeat Falcons

The Mavericks defeated the Kinkaid Falcons in a close game, 2-1.  It was a tough defensive battle as both teams made stellar plays in the field. RF Virginia Waldrop made one, throwing out a runner at 1st in the second inning.  Second baseman Terrell Finnegan was involved in 5 defensive plays for put-outs.  SS Nora Niebruegge, turned the other one touching the bag at second and throwing on to firstbaseman Melissa Baker to end the game.  Offensively the Mavericks had a tough day generating only 3 hits, one by Nora who scored the winning run in the top of the 6th on a double from Regan Rau.  Boo Mayer scored the first run and also had the teams other hit.  Both Virginia and Boo were tough on the base paths.  Virginia stole two bases and Boo four.
