Mavericks play 4 games on Saturday/capture 3rd place

After winning two games Friday night, the Mavericks returned to the diamond bright and early for an 8:00am game against St. Pius Panthers.  The Mavericks lost 7-2 collecting only two hits, one each from Nora and Danielle.
From here, the team dropped to the losers bracket and faced Second Baptist in an elimination game.  The Mavericks defeated the Eagles 7-2.  Danielle had a hit for a double, Boo and Gabby collected the other hits.  Both Virginia and Boo scored two runs each.  Virginia, Boo and Gabby collected 12 steals between the three of them.  Cat Cain and Terrell Finnegan had one stolen base apiece.  Melissa Baker picked up the win.
This victory lead to another elimination game against host school, Ft. Bend Baptist.  The team played awesome defense with Becca Linn being involved in 6 of the putouts.  Offensively, Regan had a double and a triple, Danielle collected a double.  Boo and Cat added the other hits.  Nora scored the tying run in the top of the fifth, and Virginia scored the winning run on Boo's squeeze bunt.
Thus leading to another elimination game, this time against Concordia Lutheran.  In an exciting game that went back and forth and was tied at 3 all at the end of regulation and again at 12 all at the end of two innings of I.T.B. play, the tournament tie-breaker was used.  Concordian Lutheran won by having more overall total baserunners.....21-19.  After a long day, the Mavericks won third place for there efforts, ending the semi-final game at 9:00pm.  Nora was 5 for 5, Danielle, Virginia, and Regan had two hits each. Boo, Gabby and Cat added one each.
