Mavericks lose in ITB to Knights

In a game that had just about everything, the Mavericks lost in an ITB game to cross-town rival Episcopal Knights 4-3.  For the Mavericks, Terrell Finnegan broke up a perfect game against EHS with a walk in the 6th inning and the opponent ahead, 3-0.  In the top of the seventh inning, Susan Watkins got on base with a throwing error by the Knights third baseman that allowed Susan to advance to second.  From here the Mavericks strung together 5 hits in a row to tie up the score 3-3.  Four of the hits were doubles by Regan Rau, Boo Mayer, Gabby Wise and Cat Cain.  Gabby was thrown out at the plate on a close play to end the inning.
In the bottom of the 8th, EHS scored the winning run on a hard hit ball that second baseman Dani Pike could not come up with.
The Mavericks are the only team in the South Zone that scored against the Knights.
