Mavericks defeat Cyclones in first round play of SPC

The SJS Mavericks opened SPC play against the Casady Cyclones from Oklahoma, 13-4.  The team pounded out 16 hits and had 5 steals on the day.  Leading the team in hitting were:  senior captain Susan Watkins with 4 hits which included a triple and a double, Virginia Waldrop with 3 hits, one for a double; Regan Rau, Gabby Wise, and Dani Pike added 2 hits each.  Single hits were collected by Nora Niebruegge, Boo Mayer, and Terrell Finnegan.  Dani had 3 r.b.i.'s on the day.  Susan and Regan had two each.  Senior Captain Melissa Baker picked up the win.
