TEAM EFFORT GIVES ST. JOHN'S BLOCK PARTY VICTORY

In a game that used to draw hundreds of fans, extra security, and a final playoff number one ranking, the Mavericks made the most of the moment on a beautiful night at Scottland Yard.   St. John's secured a first round City Championship home field advantage, and walked away with a swagger of owning the 77098 rivalry that only alumni can recall as the biggest game of the year.
Down early, St. John's finally got on board with a goal from William Jewett followed by an unassited goal from William Young.  Patrick Wilkey gave the Mavs the lead at half time, and Edward Williams made it 4-2 with 6:47 to go in the third period.  With Peter Guffey and Luke Phillips scoring the last two goals, six different players found the back of the net for St. John's.
Henry Waller had 3 saves and Phillips led the team in gb's again.
St. John's travels to Highland Park on Saturday for a THSLL interdistrict counter based on the number one ranking from both teams in their divisions in 2007.
