GRIT NOT ENOUGH VS WESTMINSTER, CT

With the temperatures rising in the 80's, St. John's took the field against the Grit and Grace of Westminster, CT.  Trailing early, the Mavericks showed some of their own grit and a little gravy as Billy Young stuck an unassisted goal to put St. John's on the board.  The black and gold would pull away to a 5-2 lead, but goals by Patrick Wilkey and Young cut the lead to 7-4 at the half.  Zach Gaitz scored early in the third and Peter Crain got two more plus an assist to pull the Mavs within 2 goals late in the fourth.  Blake Upchurch found Jordan Schuler for his lone goal.  Henry Waller, Krishnan Rajagopalan, and Nate Whittle netted ten saves together.  Tim McDugald and Parker Schiffer led the team in gb's. 
St. John's takes on Denver East at sundown to wrap up the 2009 Spring Break Lacrosse Trip.
