MAVS' RALLY NOT ENOUGH TO CATCH EAGLES

schambers
St. John’s spotted the ESD Eagles a 6 goal margin at the end of the first period before they decided to take charge and try and earn their due respect at the 2009 SPC Championships at St. Andrew’s School in Austin.
Basil Kostaras and Alex Smith were soaring for the Eagles before the Mavericks could get on the board with Reed Daniel and Zach Gaitz scoring unassisted goals in the second quarter.
The second half surge started with another Daniel goal two minutes into the third period. William Young found Patrick Wilkey for a goal and then intercepted a clearing pass to score on his own. 13 and 11 hooked up once more to cut the lead to 10-6 early in the fourth. As Waller was finding his game in the net with 11 saves, the Mavericks had more chances to score, but ESD held on with a Wagley goal to stop the momentum.
ReSPeCt goes out to ESD for the complete win. St. John’s will need to advance to State in Austin on Mother’s Day weekend to have a chance to play the Eagles again and get some respect back in their own game for 48 minutes.
