MAVERICKS STAMPEDE OVER SECOND MUSTANGS OF THE WEEK

For the second time this week, the Mavericks faced a team of Mustangs, this one from rival Memorial.   The Mavs burst out of the starting gate and never looked back, jumping to a 4-0 lead.  The opening 10 minutes set the tone for the rest of the game, as the Mavericks always led by at least 3 goals.  Frankles led the charge with 4G, followed by Lacey 3G/1A; 'Rillo and Gibby 2G/2A;  Joanie 3G; and SUrdahl 2G/1A.  The TEAM worked together to overcome some nerves that led to several poor passes and choices in the first half.   They also implemented what we've been working on at practice:  Redefending - wow, we were all over them;  game awareness:  getting there;  field vision:  Gibson's INT.  Our defense spanned the entire 100 yards of the field, with the entire TEAM working hard to regain possession, resulting in six caused turnovers.  Good work, MAVS!  Let's keep it up.  Playoffs start next week, when we will face Bellaire in the Quarterfinals on Tuesday.  Come to Caven Field to cheer this exciting team on!!
