The Oklahoma City Casady Cyclones meet the Mavericks on Skip Lee Field. Dan Tweardy tees up the opening kickoff and the Cyclones bring the ball out to the SJS 36 for a 54 yard return. On their first play from scrimmage they put the ball on the ground and Ben Griffin is able to recover. The Maverick offense not able to get a first down line up to punt and go for the fake with Chris Gow throwing the ball to Will Wallace but the play comes up short of the mark and the Cyclones take back over at the 42. Moving the ball down to the 15 the Casady QB hits his receiver at the 5 yard line and just when he was about to cross the goal line Gow lowered the boom and the ball rolled into the endzone. Tim Otey proceeded to scoop the ball up and making a couple of moves headed down the sidline, picking up a big block from Wallace, he raced 103 yards for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead for the Mavericks. The kickoff team had better coverage this time and the Cyclones were starting at their own 27. The Maverick defense posted a three and out and SJS took over after the punt at the 33. The Mavericks then put together a 9 play drive finishing with a Josh Winslow pass to Dan Tweardy for a 39 yard TD. Tweardys PAT was good and the score read 14-0. Again the kickoff team had good coverage and the Cyclones were only able to get the ball out to the 24 on the return. Putting together a 10 play drive Casady was only able to get down to the SJS 44 and was looking at a 4th and 4. Punting the ball the Cyclones down it on the Mavs 12. On the 2nd play Josh Winslow went the distance going 81 yards for the score with 10:10 left in the 2nd quarter for a 21-0 lead. Casady then made a comeback going 80 yards in 6 plays to get on the board down 21-7. The Mavs next possession end with a 32 yard field goal by Tweardy and a 24-7 halftime lead. The Mavericks received the kick in the second half and waisted no time going 62 yards in 6 plays with Winslow breaking a 50 yard run to score making it 31-7. The defense caused another fumble which Will Wallace recovered and the offense was out on the field again going 71 yards in 13 plays finishing with a 2 yard run by Winslow to bring the total to 37-7 with 2:46 left in the 3rd. A three and out by the defense on the next series and the offense took over to start the fourth quarter after a punt return by Ben Griffin to the 50. Eight plays later the ball was in the endzone for another score with Caldwell Flores making good on an 11 yard run 45-7. Casadys next possession ended up with the SJS defense holding on a 4th and 3. The offense finished up with one more score as Gothard Reck guided a 7 play 59 yard drive that ended with Reck punching it in from the one. Final score 52-7
