St. John's turned out the lights on Episcopal Tuesday night for a SPC/THSLL victory.
Eleven players connected on the scoring led by Chris Gow's '12 5 assists and 2 goals on the night. Counting 3 hockey assists from Logan Smith '13 and Ben Griffin '13, thirteen Mavericks tallied points for their third SPC and sixth THSLL victory on the year. Michael Cregan '13, David Edwards '13, Cade Shanks '13, Grayson Crady '13, Carl Bernicker '13, Jonathan Newar '13, Will Griffin '13, Peter Cordill '13, Douglas Berkman '12, and Eric Hobby '13 all chipped in.
Led behind 9 saves from Nate Whittle '12 and superb clearing from the defensive side of the ball, Whittle, Jack Craddock '12, Ben Griffin and Smith patrolled Simmons Field with a purpose helping the Mavericks take a commanding 12-4 lead at the half.
With 3 second-half scores and enough teamwork to keep Max Skibber away from the cage long enough, St. John's headed home with a 15-8 win.
Ben Griffin, Gow, and Bernicker led the team in gb's with 5 apiece.
St. John's travels to Virginia on Thursday to play Woodberry Forest and St. Anne's-Belfield School. St. John's is 1-1 vs Woodberry, but has never played STAB, where Coach Chambers, a former Tiger, cut his teeth on coaching the game.
