St. John's puts up a fight with STAB to take the Saints to the brink in the fourth period.
Settling into their own on Virginia time, St. John’s took the high road to STAB to take on the regarded Saints.
Like a well oiled machine, STAB went up 1-0 early in the first, but the Mavericks responded on a Chris Gow’12 goal a minute later. The Saint’s Robertson (Delaware) who factored in 5 of their goals, put them back on top for a 3-1 lead before William Griffin ’13 cashed in on a Peter Cordill ‘15 assist to get the Mavericks within one.
STAB scored 2 more for a 5-2 half-time lead leaving the Mavericks plenty to ponder.
Jonathan Newar ’13 responded in the third with an assist from Douglas Berkman ’12 to get St. John’s close. Will Griffin found Gow and it was a 1 goal margin midway through the final period.
St. Anne’s found 2 more scores and once again the home team went away with the victory.
Nate Whittle ’12 had 12 saves on the day, while Scott Hereford ’13 added a couple more.
