March 24, 2015 – The Briarwood School Hosts St. John’s Boys’ JV Tennis (SJS Boys win 3-0)
The squad wasted no time, traveling with the Girl’s JV to Lee LeClear Tennis on Tuesday, March 24, to take on the Briarwood School.
The squad dusted off the rust to take all three lines in the Boys’ matches, with Andrew Awad reversing his slow start (and being down a break 1-3) to storm back to win 8-4 in the only singles match.
In doubles, at Line 1, the team of Sadde Mohamed and Charlie Neuhaus prevailed in a tight match featuring one net service break, winning 8-6. At Line 2, the team of Harry Kagan and Will Rippeto raced out to a very fast start and never looked back while winning 8-0.
As a special feature, three mixed doubles matches were played between the two schools. At Line 1, Emily and Drew Woodfolk ran into a bit of a buzz saw, losing 1-6. At Line 2, Alex and Louis Morrell, prevailed at love, winning 6-0. Line 3’s match was shortened due to time constraints with Andrea and Jonathan Bloom dropping the match in the sudden death tie breaker 4-5 on the last point.
