Leap Day in Leap Year Sees Maverick Boys' JV Tennis Jump to a Win

Harold Graham
The Boys' Junior Varsity Tennis Team traveled to the Houston Racquet Club to take on the Second Baptist Eagles on February 29. looking to bounce back from a tough and close season opener against Strake Jesuit.
Seven lines were played featuring four singles and three doubles, with our travelers from Claremont gaining a 7-0 sweep.
In singles. Vijay Patel (2019), Andrew Awad (2017), Eric Lee (2019), and Sadde Mohamed (2017) came through with wins, controlling the tempo and tone of their sets from start to finish.
In doubles, the tandems of Naveen Krishnan (2019)/William Wallace (2019), Ryan Chang(2019)/Nicholas Echeverri (2019), and Kevin Jung (2018)/Ribhu Nag (2018) all prevailed exhibited good execution and growing understanding of the different geometry presented on the doubles' court.
All in all, a good bounce back after last week's opener, building towards the rest of the season, with Briarwood School next up.
Until then, hard work and good attitude for our fellow Mavericks.
As always, go Mavericks!
