Team Detail
The Bryan Trammell Forehand - need we say more? Charlie Neuhaus elevates into his serve - was it the kicker or did he lace the flat one? Jack Shea, looks like he's lined up the volley for the finish. Bryan Trammell & Jack Shea - this is what we like to see, Jack with the return while Bryan is reading the opposing net player to see if an opportunity presents itself. Jackson Edwards makes a huge statement with a "No Doubt About It" forehand. Louis Morrell punishing the forehand volley opportunity. Louis Morrell & Will Rippeto - it all starts with a Louis' solid return of serve with his partner, Will, anticipating the next move in the run of play. Naveen Krishnan & William Wallace - another tandem looking forward, with William wanting to get in and get that floating ball after Naveen's return. The Naveen Krishnan Serve - this picture is worth at least 1,000 words. Nicholas Echeverri with the western forehand. Warning, do not try this at home! Ryan Chang making the "out " call after lining up the forehand. Ryan Chang & Davis Flowers - Ryan Chang at the ready, reading the returner as Davis Flowers throws in the serve to the ad court. Did Ryan poach or not? You'll have to ask him. William Wallace - This is one of the tougher shots in the game, the high forehand. Will Rippeto - It looks like Will has set up this forehand drive to go down the line to pass the net man. Way to keep them on their toes and honest!

Go North, Young Men, Go North - Maverick JV Boys Battle Concordia Lutheran

Harold Graham
The Maverick Boys' Junior Varsity Tennis traveled north to Lone Star College on Friday, March 4, to take on the Concordia Lutheran Crusaders in a dual match.
Eleven players made the trek and all eleven tucked away victories, providing a sweep as we head into our last week of practice, match and tournament play before taking Spring Break.
The takeaways from this match for the lads were: 1) improved general awareness throughout the matches, 2) clamping down during critical phases and moments (e.g. - deuce points, break opportunities, and break points against us), 3) better communication and blending of our doubles teams, 4) willingness to stay in the point, and 5) good spirit, energy, and fight throughout the matches.
Next up on the calendar on Monday, March 7, are two matches, one against the British International School and the other versus Westbury Christian. Both will take place at Lee LeClear Tennis Center with 4:00 PM starts. So, come on out and witness some spirited play as we progress through our season.
Until then, as always, go Mavericks!
