Sam Chambers
The 2025 Fall SPC Championships began in the greater Houston area on Thursday and concluded on Saturday, a day that had four St. John’s teams in the hunt for a championship. Girls and Boys Cross Country started things off with a runner-up and a championship finish, respectively, at Spring Creek Park in Tomball. The Girls were led by first-place All-SPC runner Taylor Synnott '28.  Andrew Wasserman ’26 led the boys with a 3rd-place run and All-SPC honors. Asher Gurr ’29, Henry Caputo ’26, and Horatio Wilcox ’26 also earned All-SPC. Complete results are here. Field Hockey lost to Kinkaid 3-1 in the SPC finals. Josephine VanHoutan ’26’s goal put the Mavericks up 1-0 early on, but Kinkaid scored three unanswered goals for the win.  Finally, after trailing 0-1, Girls Volleyball reeled off three games in a row to defeat Episcopal and win their first SPC championship since 2018. Congratulations, Mavericks!
