The girls and boys had a very successful meet. The boys came up just short to St. Stephen's, and the girls ran a gutsy 4x400 to secure the first SPC trophy in 4 years. Peyton Brown won the 800m and 1600m, Isabelle Paine won the 300 Hurdles, the girls were 2nd in the 4x400 and 3rd in the 4x100, setting a new school record of 48.93. The boys broke the school and SPC meet record in the 4x100 relay with a 41.85 and ran away with the 4x400 relay in 3:22.49. Genson Hooper-Price stole the show by anchoring both relays and tying the SPC meet record in the 100m (and lowering his school record) in 10.57, and winning the 400m to lower his school record and set a new SPC record in 48.12! After Day 1 Field Events, 3200 meters, and 4x800 relays, both Maverick teams are in good position to go for the title on Saturday. Led by Peyton Brown's 3200 meter and Katie Isaac's Discus Throw wins, a girls 4x800 school record for first place, Isabelle Paine's 3rd place in the Long Jump, and Katie Hasley and Ana Maria Rodriguez finishing 5-6 in the Shot Put, the Girls are in 3rd place with running finals to come tomorrow.
The Boys placed 3rd in the 4x800 relay and had good points from Drew Woodfolk in the 3200 meters, Jarrell Sims in the Discus Throw, and August Windham and Will Marx in the Pole Vault and High Jump respectively. Genson Hooper Price placed well in the Long Jump and broke the school record in the Triple Jump to finish first! The boys are in 4th place but sitting well with running events tomorrow.

Genson Hooper Price broke Lee Hampton's school record in the 100 meters (old record 10.78) with a 10.74. He tied Lee's 200 meter record of 21.94! Peyton Brown broke her onw 3200 meter record (old 10:51.20) with a 10:37.00! Lots of other season bests and PRs, especially middle distance boys and girls! Compete Results are HERE.
The boys team of Will Marx, Collin Fullen, Ian Thakur, and Genson Hooper Price took 2nd place in the 4x100 Relay in Division I at the 90th Texas Relays. Genson then returned to place 5th in the 2100 meter final in 10.92 after qualifying 8th!

Genson Hooper Price ran 10.85 to make the 100m final at the 90th Texas Relays. Peyton Brown ran another school record of 4:58.16 to place 5th in the 1600 meters!

The boys 4x100 team of Will Marx, Collin Fullen, Ian Thakur, and Genson Hooper ran the 2nd fastest time in school history (42.16) to place 4th in the Rice Victor Lopez Classic final. Peyton Brown ran 4:37 to place 2nd in the 1500 meters. The girls 4x100 finished 7th in the Exhibition 4x100 in 50.74. Complete Results are HERE. The Mavericks finished with several PRs, SPC quaflifying marks, and season bests, plus Katie Hasley 3rd place in Discus, Peyton Brown 2nd in 1500 and 1st in the 3000m, the bos 4x100 placing 4th, and Genson Hooper sinishing 4th in the Triple Jump.
Drew Woodfolk, August Windham, Jarrell Sims, Gracie Jing, Laurel Williamson, and Katie Hasley led the Mavericks to a good day of performances at the Ft. Bend Christian Invitational. Complete Results are HERE.
Will Marx, Collin Fullen, Ian Thakur, and Genson Hooper ran 42.11 to break the St. John's School Record and qualify 5th for the Rice Victor Lopez Classic final. The girls 4x100 qualified for the exhibition final, and Peyton Borwn will be running in the top division 1500 meter race Saturday evening to defend her 2016 win. Marx and Fullen also ran PRs in the 300 Hurdles and there were good performances by Jayan Hanson and Molly Isaac in the 1500 meters. Gneson Hooper also placed 4th in the Triple Jump with a season best 45'3.5"
Peyton ran the 2nd fastest 3000 meter time in the nation to win the race in 10:00.25, and Katie broke her own school record for the 3rd meet in a row to place 3rd with a 125'10! Results HERE.

Katie Hasley broke her own school record in the discus for the third straight meet, placing 2nd at the 66th TSU Relays with a throw of 122'6". Will Marx ran a PR in the 100 meters of 11.12. Isabelle Paine competed in the Long Jump and ran the 300 Hurdles. Sam Faraguna ran the 1600 meters, and Genson Hooper and Will Skinner both ran the 400 meters. More events tomorrow!
Katie Hasley upped her Maverick Discus record to 122'2 to win the event. The boys 4x100 and 4x400 and 4x800 all finished first place. Genson Hooper won the 100 meters and the Triple Jump, Ian Thakur won the 400 meters, and Peyton Brown broke her own school record and dipped below the magic 5 minute barrier to win the 1600 meters in 4:59.84! The boys 4x100 team of Will Marx, Collin Fullen, Ian Thakur, and Genson Hooper won the 4x100, Will Marx won the open 100 meters. The girls 4x100 finished 2nd, Isabelle Paine and Mycah Clay were 2nd in the 100 hurdles and 100m, and Kat Smith was 3rd in the 200m. This year marked the 50th Rebel / Maverick Relays, and we had a wonderful celebration of St. John's Track & Field Legends and alumni athletes from the 1960w through 2015 grads! The boys have a 1 point lead and the girls are in second place after day 1 of the 50th St. John's Maverick Relays. Finals begin tomorrow at 9am with 4x100 and the Girls Discus. The girls team of Isaac, Melcher, Barboza, and Brown won the 4x800, and the boys team of Skinner, Marx, Thakur, and Hooper set the meet record winning the Swedish Relay. Boys were 2nd in the 4x800 and girls were 2nd in the Swedish Relay. Isabelle Paine was 2nd in the Long Jump, and Jarrell Sims won the Discus.
Peyton Brown, Katie Hasley, Kat Smith, and Isabelle Paine won events to lead to a win in the Tri Meet vs. Houston Christian and Woodlands Christian. Amelia Williams also won the Triple Jump and the girls won both relays. Jarrell Sims, Will Marx, and August Windham posted PRs and Ian Thakur was close winning the 200 meters as the boys finished behind Houston Christian in the team score.
