The St. John's girls defeated Houston Christian yesterday at the Lost Forest Tennis Club 5 - 0. With the victory St. John's goes into SPC undefeated. Sophia Huynh defeated Daniella Nassar 6-4 6-2 in a high quality match. Hannah Johnston defeated Emily Dziedzic 6-2 6-3 in a match that had very long rallies. Katherine Johnston defeated Emma Dickey 6-0 6-0 without any difficulty. Hannah Chang and Betsy Hook defeated Elizabeth Allen and Ga Young Seo 6-2 6-4. Houston Christian did not go down without a fight and the second set was very close. Sara Doyle and Shelby Jordan defeated Carrie Hopper and Lauren Way 4-6 7-5 7-5 in a true marathon match that lasted 3 hours. Without a doubt the most exciting match of the day and a great job by Sara and Shelby for fighting so hard and coming out with a great victory. We are working very hard and looking forward to SPC in Dallas.
Mavericks' girls went 13 - 1 to win the Sunseri Memorial Tennis Tournament in Galveston yesterday. On a very windy day St. John's girls defeated Alief Taylor, Hastings and Dobie High School to take the tiltle. Representing the Mavericks squad: Hannah Chang, Eleanor Deventski, Shelby Jordan, Betsy Hook, Lexie Farnell and Emily Ragauss. We resume SPC matches this coming Tuesday against Kinkaid. Go Mavs!
