A Great Opening Match!

What a way to start a season!  It's always fun to play the competitive Episcopal Knights!  It's even more fun to post a win in the opening match!  It was a picture perfect day...the weather was ideal with warm temps and no wind at Homer Ford Tennis Center, and though the sky was EHS blue, our Mavs were red hot in their matches.
Lini played Line 1 Singles and was a force to be reckoned with!  Not giving up a single game, Lini won 8-0 in her first upper school match.  Dalia started off playing an opponent that she knew and was pretty even in skills.  She dropped the first 4 games, and then figured it out, got rid of her nerves, and started moving her opponent side to side for a great 8-5 win!  Way to go!
We paired Lauren and Eva for the first time on Line 1 Doubles against a strong EHS pair.  They dropped the first two games, won the next two to even the score, but lost in the end, 8-3.  This was Lauren's first match as a Maverick, and she did a great job and has the skills to continue to improve and be a great asset to the team.  Eva hits hard and has already made such improvement to her game.  She is one to watch!
Sophia and Lini teamed up for Line 2 Doubles.  With Sophia's long reach, she was unbeatable at the net.  Lini's hard, fast, and low serve was a big key to winning the match 8-3!
Begoña and Dalia partnered for Line 3 Doubles.  They communicated well toward the end of the match and came up with a nice win, 8-5.  Begoña had some amazing returns of serve and both girls had long rallies that made that win especially sweet!
Many thanks to all the fans who came out.  Tennis is a 'quiet' fan experience, but we felt the love and support!  A huge thanks to Erica Burnette for great beverages and snacks.  It's so nice to have all the love!
