A Cold WINDY Win!

Emery Weiner brought four great girls to play our six!  The morning of the match was warm and a bit humid but that changed dramatically by noon and by match time, it was cold and VERY windy! Two of their players were seasoned while the other two were fairly new to this wonderful game of tennis. 
We started with doubles with Lauren and Begoña playing Line 1 against Isabelle and Sarah.  We started out fairly even, were down, caught up, and eventually lost 6-8 to this seasoned team.  Throughout the match, the girls played hard, worked well together, and they kept their spirits up.
Line 2 Doubles of Sophia and Abi played Emery's fairly new players, Michelle and Leah and had an easy time, winning 8-0.  Sophia and Abi were gracious with their convincing win and continued to encourage and praise their opponents' good shots.
Time for singles... Lini played Isabelle at Line 1, and with the wind as an additional opponent, she edged out a win 9-7.  Both girls hit hard, low and deep shots, and moved each other around the court.  Each point was long, and it was a fun match to watch!
Dalia played Line 2 Singles against a hard-hitting Sarah.  Down at first, Dalia figured out the wind and got rid of her nerves to come back for a solid win at 8-5. 
As we had a bit of extra time, Sophia jumped at the chance to play again, and Emery's Michelle wanted more experience.  Sophia, with her wonderful long reach, won, 8-0.  
Watching Emery's Line 1 & 2 Singles hit so well against our top girls in their singles matches made our Line 1 Doubles team feel pretty good about their close match.
All in all, we had a great time with our Emery Weiner opponents. Many thanks to the Raghavens for great snacks and beverages!
